Emilia Cristini: Design Abruzzo 2015 prize

Accademia italiana student wins first prize

She graduated in Interior and Product Design from the Accademia Italiana’s Rome campus in 2014, and today the 24-year-old Emilia Cristini from Marisca is the winner of the 2015 DESIGN ABRUZZO prize.
Divided into professional and student categories, the prize aims to highlight the professional capability of the Abruzzo region in the name of “good design.” This year the participants were asked to develop a project that would take into consideration “the space of the classroom with the placement of a student's desk and chair” for primary and middle school, with a special focus on students with disabilities. Emilia's Bc-Twice is a desk that can be disassembled, combined and manually adjusted to various heights to create a system of benches. Moreover, even the single seat is removable and transportable. Considering her adherence to the design characteristics requested of the competition, such as environmental sustainability, the ease with which her desk can be assembled, disassembled and transported, and its modular and multimedia features, Emilia was awarded first place!!
