Drawing and Painting Course in Florence

The reasons for a choice

The Accademia Italiana has created, at the Florence school, a course of drawing and painting course that involves the student in an exciting artistic, cultural and human experience.
The teaching of drawing and painting includes the development of the ability of the student in various directions: the individual expressive ability will evolve through the control of the graphic sign, in the creation of the composite structure, in the management of the possibilities offered by colors in the search for new languages.

In the teaching method of the art school the acquisition and mastering of the expressive means is fundamental so that the meanings, the feelings, the reflections, the ideas take form and are molded into the work.
For this reason the course program includes the study of various drawing and painting techniques, involving both the figurative trends (life drawing, nude drawing) and the abstract.

The student is stimulated by the confrontation with the past, this is certainly made easy by the possibilities offered living in Florence, where the student is in the midst of the masterpieces of many of the great masters. Michelangelo, Giotto, Botticelli, Ghiberti, Piero della Francesca, Raffaello and many others have left their marks in this beautiful city.

The Accademia Italiana organizes within this course guided visits and study days on the great masters in museums and within the collections in Florence.

Contact and confrontation with the contemporary art is done through the interaction with contemporary artists that the students will meet during the activities of the art school, through the participation in seminars and conferences held by art critics, and experts and through participation in exhibitions and artistic events that the department of Visual Arts of the school often organizes, at times in cooperation with the design Institute.

There are two different ways of participating in the course of “drawing and painting”:
- the academic course that may be attended on a semester basis, allowing the student to earn the diploma for the basic level (upon successful completion of the second semester) and for the advanced level (upon completion of the fourth semester);
- monthly courses are also available for those who cannot study for long periods of time (certificate awarded upon completion).

These courses may be taken together with monthly coursers of Italian language and culture for foreign students as the time schedules are compatible.
