Italian language school - Italian language courses
The Accademia Italiana offers
3 different levels of Italian language courses year-round:
- Basic level
- Intermediate level
- Advanced level
Each level is covered in one month of lessons. Each month
students can attend courses for 80 hours (type A) or for 40
hours (type B).
This kind of program is strongly recommended to those who
wish to acquire a strong linguistic knowledge, and to those
foreign students who wish to go on to attend the academic
or masters programs.
The level of knowledge of the Italian language is evaluated
by a placement test that will determine the level of placement.
The basic level course of Italian language allows for an elementary
approach for those with no previous knowledge which will take
the student to an understanding of the principle linguistic
structures.
The intermediate level of Italian language will concentrate
on an enrichment of the vocabulary, the grammar and improving
the pronunciation.
In the advanced level of Italian language particular attention
is given to written composition and the use of the language
in specific situations.
An integral part of each level is the use of audio-visuals,
conversation, the viewing of films in Italian language followed
by discussion and an examination of Italian literature and
poetry. As an alternative to the monthly courses the school
offers individual courses for brief periods which are useful
for professionals, managers or anyone who wishes to acquire
linguistic knowledge in a short period of time.
The individual courses are available in modules of 4 days
A) 20 lesson hours in the standard module or B) 30 lesson
hours (with lunch included) for the intensive module. The
Italian language courses may be attended together with other
courses at the Accademia Italiana.
Workshops
The Italian language and culture department also organizes
workshops each month on relevant aspects of the Italian
culture and way of life.
