Set design - Production design courses (for theater, film and television)
Duration: 3 years (six academic
semesters)
"Set Design" means the creation and the organization
of a "scenic" space in function of a specific
media event. This involves designing on the basis of
the technical and artistic needs that present many variables
connected with the environment in which one is working
and on the kind of use of the spectator.
In the course of Production and Set Design the various
possibilities are analyzed (theaters, televisions performance,
film set, fashion show, etc.) and for each specific
ambiance the student must elaborate the projects that
will be closely followed by the instructors at the Accademia.
Each argument is explained through the use of examples,
from the most simple to the most complex. The project
is analyzed from the beginning phase of the idea to
the scenic space to the definitive project in the film
or television studio. The set designs are created following
a progressively more complex project each time. The
learning and research done by each student is articulated
in theory and practical lessons, seminars, encounters,
seminars on special themes covered with the aid of audiovisuals
and digital instruments. Encounters with experts from
the world of cinema, theater and television as well
as guided tours and visits to theaters and sets are
also included in this course.
