To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Accademia Italiana the Institute

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Accademia Italiana the Institute has organized a series of encounters with some of the most important names in Italian design. This conference series is directed in particular at the students who attend the programs of Interior and Product Design, Fashion design and Graphic design.

INTERIOR AND PRODUCT DESIGN PROGRAM

Tuesday, November 4: RICCARDO DALISI

Riccardo Dalisi, born in 1931, has dedicated his life to teaching and to research in the field of architecture, design and visual arts. In the 1970's he was considered one of the most significant and representative names in radical architecture.
His expressivity makes reference to the mythical, the archaic and the sacred.
He is strongly tied to his native city of Naples, and in 1981 was awarded the "Compasso d'Oro" (Golden Compass Award) for his research on the Neapolitan Coffee maker.
Important museums and art galleries have dedicated exhibitions to his works (the Biennial of Venice, the Triennial of Milan, the Biennial of Chicago, the Denver Museum, the Guggenheim Museum of New York, the Museum of Copenhagen, the Royal Palace in Naples, the Lucio Amelio Gallery of Naples, the Cartier Foundation of Paris, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Montreal, the Castel dell'Ovo in Naples and many others.
In April 2008, the Accademia Italiana awarded him the "Pyramid of Excellence" (see photo).

Monday, November 10: ANDREA BRANZI

Andrea Branzi, born in Florence in 1938, today lives and works principally in Milan. He is an architect, a designer and an art critic.
He was a part of the group ARCHIZOOM from 1964 to 1974. He has alternated his design work with teaching and writing. Author of numerous books, curator of exhibitions, he collaborates with important design magazines (DOMUS, INTERNI, CASABELLA, MODO and others).
He has worked with important companies, among them: ALESSI, CASSINA, VITRA, ZANOTTA, ARTEMIDE, PIONEER and others.
He is considered one of the most important names in neo-modern design.
He has won numerous international design competitions and is a three-time winner of the "Compasso d'Oro" (golden compass award).
His intuition has repeatedly anticipated the evolution of design and the perception of architectural space and the urban scene.

FASHION DESIGN PROGRAM

Friday, November 7: LAWRENCE STEELE
Lawrence Steele, born in Virginia (USA) in 1963, after initial experience in the States transferred his professional talents to Italy where he has worked for important companies.
From 1985 to 1990 he collaborated with Moschino.
From 1990 to 1994 he was stylistic consultant for Prada.
From 2002 he has been head of the style department for ALBERTO ASPESI & Co. SpA (Linea Aspesi, Knitwear line, Jersey line and Nylon line).
Under his own name "Lawrence Steele" (women's wear / luxury, produced in Italy and distributed worldwide) he has participated in the fashion shows at Milano Collezione.

Tuesday, November 11: MONICA SARTI
Born into the fashion industry, she grew up in the family wool mill (FALIERO SARTI), founded by her grandfather. The wool industry Sarti was the first textile industry in Prato to open to the world of high fashion during the "boom years".
Monica Sarti is currently responsible for the line of accessories.
This encounter will focus on the idea and development of a collection of accessories in textiles.

GRAPHIC DESIGN PROGRAM

Monday October 13: SILVIO COCCO
Silvio Cocco is a graphic designer with wide experience in the various fields of graphics and visual communication. He was the creative director for G.F.T. (Gruppo Finanziario Tessile). He was part of the creative team for brand names such as Christian Dior, Luis Ferraut, NewMan, Martin Guy, Ungaro e Valentino.
He has worked in the field of food packaging for important international brands such as Alemagna, Bacardi and others and in the cosmetics line for Clinique, Eau Dissey, I Coloniali and others.. He has also worked in fashion photography and advertising (Ferdinando Scianna in Milano and Pitti Uomo in Florence).
He has also collaborated with: Comune di Torino, Fiat, Banca Sanpaolo.
He is currently the creative director for research for the company Ferrero.
