Celebrate 125

Celebrate 125

To mark the 125th anniversary of the death of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, the students in the Graphic Design department of the Accademia Italiana expressed their personal impressions associated with the life and works of this great artist.

Through reinterpretations of subjects, iconic elements and moments of the life of Van Gogh, the Graphic Design works range from lettering inspired by the whirling movements of his brush strokes, to a rendering of his self-portrait in pop-art style, to highlighting tragic moments of his like, such as the self-mutilation of his ear, an emotionally strong representation of a passionate and tormented life.

The show will be exhibited from May 20 to June 2, 2015 in the entrance loggia of the deconsecrated church of Santo Stefano al Ponte, in Florence providing an evocative introduction to the Van Gogh Alive exhibition.
