Summer is an ideal period to spend studying at the Accademia Italiana in Florence, exploring new possibilities in an artistic field and living a exciting experience in one of the most beautiful cities of the world. The summer courses offer a wide range of subjects in the art and design area in addition to all levels of Italian language courses.
The summer courses at the Accademia Italiana are taught by professors from the 3-year bachelor degree programs which insures academic quality. The Accademia Italiana, in fact, has been operating for decades in Florence and has acquired an excellent international reputation as its art and design programs area considered among the best offered.
The headquarters of the school are in the historic center of the city, in a 19th century palace just across from the famous Pitti Palace and only steps away from all of the most important monuments of this beautiful city, (such as the Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, Santa Croce, etc.).
During the period of studies it is thus easy to organize visits to the museums and monuments that crowd the streets and plazas around the school.
During the summer session the Accademia Italiana organizes basic level programs (for beginners) as well as programs at intermediate and advanced levels for those students who already have the necessary technical knowledge.
Lessons are held in both Italian and English language, while some specific courses are taught only in English language (information may be found in the secretary's office at the school).
Upon successful completion of each course a certificate is awarded.
Italian language courses
In the months of June, July and August the Accademia Italiana of Florence offers various levels of Italian language courses (basic, intermediate and advanced) to. These courses are directed at all foreign students interested in the Italian language and are also strongly recommended for those foreign students who will attend the academic courses at the AI beginning in September.

Drawing and painting
These monthly courses may be attended for 40 hours per month (regular course) or 80 per month (intensive course), in the months of June, July and August. The students work in a spacious art studio located just a few steps away from the Uffizi Gallery on the famous "Lungarno".

Fashion design
This is an intensive (90 hours in one month) course which the student may attend for one or two months (June and July). This course covers this subject in a concise manner while being structured in a way that offers a significant and complete experience. Introducing the student to the knowledge of the fashion world, various subjects that are fundamental for the design are covered.

Fashion illustration
This program, which lasts one month, is made up of a total of 40 lesson hours. During the lessons illustration of the human figure for fashion use is covered, from a study of the human figure, definition of fashion illustration, drawing garments with graphic effects for volume and fabric consistencies.

Duration: 1 or 2 months

Italian product design
This course is held completely in English language. The approach to "Italian Design" and to that multitude of styles and trends defined generically as "Italian style" is done both on a theory level (theory and history of design) and on a practical level (product design with practical exercises).
Level: intermediate / advanced

Period: from June 15 to July 23
Photography
This course is directed at beginners, and is held in the month of July. The course includes 40 lesson hours and aims at teaching the basic techniques relative to the use of the camera together with the knowledge of photography as a visual art. Lessons will discuss both the analysis of the image and photography.

Photographing Florence
Develop artistic capacity while learning the art of photography and discovering the secrets of one of the most fascinating cities in the world - this is the aim of this summer course, held completely in English language. Photography will mainly cover external spaces. Each student will try to capture the soul of the city through images of its architecture, of the squares and winding streets, the corners and of the people.

Yacht design
This is a specialization course, a real mini-master offered during the summer months and aimed at designers, architects and students currently attending design programs. The nautical industry is achieving an important place in Italy. Tuscany today is one of the most important production locations worldwide for yachts, sailboats and outboards.
Level: basic course
Duration: 6 weeks
Period: from June 15 to July 23
Space design
This course, which will cover 100 lesson hours, is a specialization course, a summer "mini-master", open to designers, architects, and students currently attending design schools.
The design of functional elements that support human life in space is intended to take the "know-how" from this kind of advanced research to the application for commercial products for daily life, with added value.
Level: Advanced
Duration: 6 weeks

To enroll in the Accademia Italiana summer programs the student must send the following to the secretary's office at least 45 days before the beginning of the course chosen:
a) The personal information form enclosed, filled out in all its parts. (this form is also found on our web site www.accademiaitaliana.com)
b) A photocopy of a personal document (passport or other valid document for foreign students);

ACCOMODATION ARRANGEMENTS
The Accademia Italiana helps students find places to live, in rooms and apartments shared with other students. The student is placed in contact with the owners of these apartments and will make economic arrangements directly with them. The school offers this information service free to the students enrolled. It is not an agency service. As much as possible the secretary will make arrangements as the student requests. The prices of rooms in shared apartments in Florence vary from about € 380 for a place in a double room to about € 500 for a place in a single room per month.
