  • SALD 110 Life Drawing I

    Exercises to loosen the hand movement and to develop a stronger graphic ability. Still-life, beginning with single objects, then with multiple objects and more complex compositions.

    Graphic composition of the subject, determination of the proportions and relationships between the subjects, geometric construction of the composition. Light-dark effects, study of shadows.

    Life- drawing with real models: the human body. Construction of the masculine and of the feminine figure. Sketches of the entire body and of particulars (the face, the hands, the chest, the feet, etc.) Notions of human anatomy.

    The human body in movement. Sketches of the surroundings with life studies to be done outside in the city, sketching historic buildings, monuments, gardens, characteristic streets and squares. Illustration and explanation of life drawings done by masters of the Renaissance and of some contemporary artists.

  • SAPT 110 Painting Techniques I

    In a well-equipped studio the students can acquire or improve knowledge of painting and color techniques. Work will be done using various materials: water colors, tempera, oils, chalks, pastels, acrylics, etc. on various backgrounds, paper, canvas, cardboard, wood, etc.).

    During the course various artists will be guest lecturers, showing their works and assisting the students during studio time, in order to offer more diversified examples of professional experiences, contributing to widening the knowledge of the students in the realm of contemporary art.

    For particular painting techniques that will be covered each semester specialists will be called upon to offer their additional support in the classroom.

  • SAPF 310 Photographing Florence

    This course will offer the opportunity to discover Florence, its monuments and neighborhoods, the characteristic streets and plazas, the architectural masterpieces and the Tucson landscape through the photographic lens.

    The student, while learning about the history, the art and architecture of Florence will also develop the techniques of artistic photography. The Florentine reality will be filtered through a photographic lens, and interpreted on a personal level by each individual student.

    As the student is emerged in the daily reality of this fascinating city he/she will capture the moments of contemporary life together with the testimonials of the past.
