The monumental trees of Florence at the center of an artistic project

The photographic exhibition entitled "The Witnesses of Our Time" collects a series of shots dedicated to the extraordinary secular Florentine trees. Realized by the young photographers of Accademia Italiana and set up inside the Tepidarium del Roster on the occasion of the festival "Green Factory".

The monumental arboreal heritage of Florence becomes the protagonist of a photographic project thanks to "The Witnesses of Our Time": the exhibition was the backdrop to the Green Factory festival, in the Tepidarium del Roster, inside the Horticulture Garden of the Tuscan capital. The exhibition gathered a series of shots dedicated to the majestic trees that inhabit the Florentine territory: images that were specially made by the students of the Department of Photography of the Florentine campus of Accademia Italiana.

Curated by teachers Chiara Ruberti and Dario Orlandi, the photographic exhibition returns an unprecedented "mapping" of the secular trees that populate Florence and neighboring municipalities, creating a fascinating kaleidoscope that invites the observer to admire these majestic "inhabitants" of the Florentine territory with a completely new look.

The photographic works celebrate the beauty and symbolism of the tree, conceived as a source of life and protection in the work of Martina Cimboli, as an expression of wisdom in the image of Alice Palchetti, as a place of renewal in the series of Stefania Squitieri and, still, as an emblem of the encounter between human and divine in the visual experiments of Lorenzo Leggio. Every constituent element of the plant enters the lens of young photographers: from leaves to fruits, up to the bark and roots. Among the works on display stand out the shots of Luis Gerardo Sanchez Serrano and Emilia Gattino with Alice Ioffredi, who reflect on the techniques of pinhole photography and cyanotype, and Lara Baudracco, who celebrates the uniqueness of the trees magnifying the overall grandeur.
