Enthusiastic reviews for Accademia Italiana fashion design students from the Italian and international press.
Fashion and design need new talents such as only a cutting-edge school like the Accademia Italiana can train can produce.
Many journalists representing both Italian and foreign media were present at the Accademia Italiana academic year-end event. Among them were reporters from Vogue Italia, La Nazione, La Repubblica, TG3 - RAI, TG5 - Canale5 Mediaset, Moda-online, and many others.
This is the article by Eva Desiderio published in the Florentine newspaper La Nazione on April 23, 2010:

"Florentine New Talents"
Accademia Italiana end of academic year Fashion Show "Let's encourage Young Creativity"
Invest in young people and the future of fashion.
This is the conclusion that emerged after yesterday evening's gala event held at the Saschall Theatre for the end of academic year Fashion Show organised by the Accademia Italiana, the Florentine school directed by Prof. Vincenzo Giubba, that for 26 years has promoted fashion, culture and design.
"This is the condition sine qua non in order to progress and discover new talents", explained Andrea Panconesi, the owner of Luisa Via Roma, who has dedicated a special section of his on-line retail site to young fashion designers, who received, together with other prestigious designers, entrepreneurs and figure heads in culture, the Accademia Italiana's 'Pyramid of Excellence' award that was designed six years ago by Oscar winning Set Designer, Gianni Quaranta.
The great fashion show that the students put on at the Saschall Theatre (all creations designed and produced by the students' themselves under the expert guidance of Raoul Flori) were inspired by the theme ‘Music', which is intimately tied to the world of fashion.
Very impressive were the music arrangements by DJ Alex Neri that accompanied the presentation of the students' collections which form part of their final 3rd year degree thesis portfolio.
"Going back to November of last year we had already begun to study the relationship between music and fashion - explained the Accademia Italiana's director, Vincenzo Giubba - and now we are moving towards the contemporary world and young creativity. We are very proud of our international reputation, from the excellent results in the design field, that I hope attracts the attention of industry to the work of the school and the forthcoming opening of other centres and the beginning of a Master's programme at two prestigious universities, Peking and Shanghai followed in September by a new 3 year degree program in Photography and New Media."
The "Pyramid" Award winners were greeted with enthusiastic applause, starting with the famous American film director, James Ivory, who is concluding a project to celebrate the birth of Vasari 500 years ago, together with Luigi Settembrini, who years ago fascinated the world with the first Florentine Biennale.
The students were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet the famous rock stylist John Richmond, who arrived despite the volcanic cloud, directly from London where he lives. "It is important to sustain these young creative designers after they come out of school, talking from my own experience, it is very difficult to get established at the beginning. Working on the collections next to me in my studio there are often many young people doing an internship."
Together with Richmond, there was also Saverio Moschillo, the co-partner of the English stylist in the ultra rock brands and owner of the labels such as Husky, Rodolphe Menudier, Haute, and vice president of the Italian Chamber of Fashion.
Giuseppe Zanotti, who shared with the students his creative ideas in the world of luxury footwear, and the close link between fashion and contemporary art, was also greeted with enthusiastic applause by the students.
The Pyramid of Excellency was also awarded to Franco Penè, head of the company Gi.Bò that produces for labels such as Rochas and Marc Jacobs; to the innovative designer Denis Santachiara and to Piero Gandini, the President of Flos, a leading company in lighting design and production.
