The leading company in track lighting, will be present at the Frankfurt fair

From March 3rd to 8th at Light + Building, a biennial event that collects the innovations of the sector internationally, A.A.G. Stucchi, leader of track lighting, presents Flutua, the result of an educational project developed with Accademia Italiana.

Rome, March 4th, 2024

FLUTUA is an innovative system of minimalist and flexible lights, developed by students Cristina Esposito, Alexandra Villalba and Federico Tomassetti, based on the brief provided by the historic company in Lecco that together with the German EUTRAC, recently acquired, is a leader in the design, manufacture and sale of complete systems for track lighting worldwide.

The company was founded in 1944 in the province of Lecco, where it still resides the main headquarters and production, totally Made in Italy. Stucchi operates in more than 80 countries and has offices in the USA, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Born as a manufacturer of lighting components, it has developed a know-how that has allowed it to evolve, expanding its product range and focusing on track lighting which today represents its core business. With 250 employees and 40 thousand square meters of operating plant, Stucchi invoices about 60 million euros a year and exports for 54%.

Thanks to the introduction of its Low Voltage families, the company has revolutionized the world of track systems: an approach to innovation that today Stucchi wants to confirm with this project, having as focus the creative interpretation of its portfolio to explore new possibilities of application and use to get to the development of a new iconic product.

The students of the Master Degrees in Interior Design and Product Design at the Accademia Italiana in Rome were asked to focus on aspects such as functionality, aesthetics, interactivity, energy efficiency, to arrive at an innovative and original solution.

Four working groups that have put themselves to the test developing as many projects, coordinated by teachers Federico Ognibene for the activities of Light Design and Dionysia Drakou for the course of Interior Design: DUAL, elaborated by Emanuela Bologna, Sarah Di Luca, Federica Cuomo, CHROMA by Chiara Rosini, Mauro Martino, VARIA by Simone Onori and Onurcan Aygül, in addition to FLUTUA, was the closest to the brand identity.

The idea is based on a logic of seemingly "floating" elements, hanging from an ultra thin structure that allows the track to be electrified by two wires that support the main element. The effect is that of an object suspended at a height to be defined according to the architectural choices, in order to characterize the environment that houses it, giving a sense of lightness and dematerialization.

All the projects will be presented at the fair, but, particular importance will be given to FLUTUA, the winner, which will then be developed by the company for production.
