Student Life in Italy

Student Life

Student Life Students at the Accademia Italiana’s schools in Italy continually comment that one of the most exciting aspects of their time abroad with the Accademia is the opportunity to live, study and collaborate with students from across the world. The Accademia Italiana’s schools in Italy attract students from the U.S., Italy, Asia and around the world and students enjoy a lively exchange of their own cultures while also exploring the Italian language and culture together.

Apartment living affords students the exciting opportunity to live as the locals do and with a freedom and flexibility that one may not find in student housing. You can choose to eat at any number of eateries of typical, local cuisine – from dining in a restaurant of international fame to grabbing a snack “to go” from your favorite panetteria – or to grocery shop at the local marketplaces and shops and cook meals in your kitchen with your apartment-mates.

While Accademia Italiana students live independently in apartments, our staff is available 24/7 to address your questions and concerns. Each program session in Italy begins with an extensive orientation to the school and host city and you will receive comprehensive information on every topic relevant to student life in Italy, from public transportation schedules to mobile phone providers to where to find the best deals on text books and daily needs.

Study abroad students in Italy have the opportunity to explore their host country through the Accademia Italiana-organized study trips which are included in the program fee, to Italian destinations such as Venice, Milan, Bologna, Lucca, Siena, Naples, Pompeii and more. Many students choose to travel on the weekends as well, and Accademia staff are happy to provide suggestions for exploration of the country’s rich cultural, historical and artistic treasures.

Staying local to get to know your host city is a meaningful aspect to studying abroad and the Accademia Italiana organizes a host of social and academic activities throughout the term such as dinners and trips to sporting matches and other cultural events. A great pleasure is exploring your host city on your own by foot, and it is easy to lose hours simply walking the cobblestoned streets and watching local life as it unfolds around you.
