Rome Chamber of Commerce relaunches fashion in the Capital

The first edition of 'Romantica' will take place on 13 and 14 April in the Temple Hall of Vibia Sabina and Hadrian, headquarters of the Rome Chamber of Commerce. This initiative aims to re-launch the image of the capital as a place of contemporary study and research in the fashion scene, with the objective of promoting the city as a laboratory station on the themes of technology and sustainability.

Rome, 10 April 2024

"Sustainability, innovation and support for young people. These are the values on which our institution has always focused and worked to ensure support for the brands of our territory and the entire country,' says the President of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Lorenzo Tagliavanti.

The theme of this edition focuses on the relationship between Craft and Artificial Intelligence, and the heart of the event will be a large central table, the 'Scientific Station Laboratory', where students from all the schools involved will work together, using both traditional methods and digital design, as well as graphic and artistic techniques.

Accademia Italiana will have a workstation where it will display 5 dresses taken from its students' collections, dresses that speak of tradition, as in the case of Wissam Ziad Moustapha, which recalls his country of origin, but also of innovation, with the use of laser cut and the implementation of technological elements, as in the garments made by Nicoletta Margaret Lindquist and Francesca Gasparri. Next to the garments, a table enriched with the various materials used in the academy: paper patterns, fabrics, moodboards, looms, everything that identifies the work of a young designer.

The event will be surrounded by debates between experts, scholars, companies, fashion critics and theorists, who will follow one another on Saturday 13, telling, through their privileged point of view, the characteristics that connect and harmonize craftsmanship with new technologies.

During the two days of the 'Romantica' initiative, the Coloriage social tailoring workshop will also be present and workshops will be held to show and explore the concept of material transformation: MENSURA. A historic company specialized in the manufacture of busts and mannequins, it will demonstrate its construction methodology using completely recyclable materials, a technique of Italian excellence that is in demand all over the world. L'ACCADEMIA NAZIONALE DEI SARTORI - LIVE, the oldest fashion school in Italy will present a real traditional tailoring workshop where master cutters and tailors will show ancient and precious techniques and skills. PERFUMEDIA, a real olfactory that, through modern instrumentation, will show the physical transition between matter and non-matter: a Master perfumer will transform essences and unsuspected substances into perfumes.

Lastly, Sunday 14 April will host the workshop presenting digital archiving of Fashion and Costume, capable of creating not only a virtual image, but also of enabling a new model of heritage filing and study with D_ARCHIVE.
