On August 29, two fashion students from the Rome campus were invited to participate in SOUTH NEXT, an event dedicated to emerging young talents from fashion academies in central and southern Italy, held inside the Gardens of Palazzo d’Avalos in Vasto.

Promoted by the Department of Culture and Tourism and organized by Garone Srl with artistic direction by Irene Libbi, the initiative weaves the new creative possibilities of future industry professionals together with a sense of belonging to the local area, fostering new exchanges and opportunities.

The two participating students from Accademia Italiana had the opportunity to present their projects as fashion designers in a unique setting, ranging from their final work design (the AIdentities 2026 project) to a space for dialogue and networking.

Ludovica Izzi presented the collection “Ecdysis,” telling the story of human growth and constant change through latex craftsmanship inspired by the shedding process of pythons.

Federico Scampini presented “Nocturne,” offering a reflection on the relationship between form and concept. Experimentation with fabric becomes tangible proof of the metaphor between the encounter of light and shadow, exploring different possible selves.

With SOUTH NEXT, fashion and design become a meeting point between tradition and new promises, as Irene Libbi explains: «The event aims to demonstrate how the Abruzzo region and the entire South can transform into places of excellence for the growth, exchange, and discovery of new generations of creatives.»
