Students from the Photography course and History of Contemporary Art course visited the exhibition by Chen Zhen

Les pas silencieux' and that of Sol LeWitt 'Wall Drawing 1262: Planes with broken bands of color', accompanied by the expert professional guides and curators of the Gallery who explained the meaning of the works and their artists.
The students had been well prepared beforehand at school studying the works of these two artists.

Chen Zhen, a Chinese artist who died in 2000, is considered to be one of the main representatives of avant-garde Chinese art and is an emblematic figure in the field of international contemporary art. The exhibition presented a rich collection of his works done between 1990-2000, that were exhibited in various rooms, spaces, the garden of the former cinema-theatre and also in the surrounding spaces of Arco dei Becci in the main square of San Gimignano.
The binding spirit of the works of this artist are to be found both in the yin yang dialectical bipolarity of Buddhism, while the iconography is embodied in the organs, the skin, imperfections, medicines, clothing - which are thus modeled according to an organic principal such as water, fire, earth, air. Water, earth and fire/ashes are, in fact, the natural elements with which Chen Zhen transforms and purifies the objects immortalizing them to eternity.

At the Galleria Continua, the students were able to admire the unedited Wall Drawing by Sol LeWitt composed in 2004 three years before his death in New York. It is done in acrylic using all the primary and secondary colors: red, green, yellow, orange, purple and blue. Poetry and geometry unite in this great work that occupies the entire wall producing a visual emotional experience.

The visit concluded with the exhibition of some artistic photos taken by the students accompanied by their professor, in the charming historical city center of San Gimignano.
