Open House Roma is the brainchild of a group of architects and communicators oriented towards socio-cultural innovation. It is an annual event that celebrates design and architecture in the capital over nine days. Around 200 sites, from all eras and usually inaccessible, are opened to the public through free guided tours.

Rome, 25 March 2024

Erected in 1925 under the supervision and prestigious signature of architect Angiolo Mazzoni, the former Railway Customs House played a role in the control of goods by rail and gave an important impetus to the occupation and road system of the entire area.

Today, the complex is listed by the Cultural Heritage in the Quality Chart as one of the most outstanding examples of early 20th century industrial architecture. In this area of 24,000 square meters, including external courtyards and internal structures, the first pole entirely dedicated to design in Italy will be built.

The exhibition itinerary includes a visit to the former Customs Office building, now home of Accademia Italiana, and an introduction to the entire urban regeneration project of The Social Hub, which includes a 15,000 square meter public park area and a 21,000 square meter hybrid structure with hospitality, common and sports areas, coworking spaces, meetings and events.

Access, with prior booking, will be possible on four tour shifts of 60 minutes each with departures at 10:00 - 11:30 - 14:30 - 16:00.
