Accademia Italiana and Animenta: a storytelling to raise awareness

A project involving fashion and photography students to talk about eating disorders

Accademia Italiana works together with Animenta on a very important topic about which little is said nowadays: Eating Disorders.

Animenta is a non-profit association that was set up to create moments of listening and discussion for those who have faced or are facing an Eating Disorder, creating concrete proposals to make more and more people aware of this issue. The aim is to deconstruct the social stigma on these illnesses and guarantee, in addition to adequate and timely treatment, the reintegration into society of those affected.

The association, which promotes numerous activities and collaborations with schools and companies, has decided to develop together with Accademia Italiana a project that will involve the students of the second and third years of the Fashion Design and Photography courses.

The value of inclusion carried forward by Accademia Italiana becomes the protagonist of this collaboration in which fashion students will design and make ‘manifesto’ dresses that will be worn by the association's volunteers during a shoot realised by the third-year photography students. The entire creative process will instead be filmed by the second-year photography students, for a documentary video of the collaboration.

The final objective is to make this project one of the protagonists of the NationalDay of the Lilac Ribbon, which will be held next 15 March, demonstrating how important it is to inform and make people as aware as possible of Eating Disorders in order to learn how to deal with them.
