Rome, October 2nd, 2025 - The district for design, craftsmanship and art is born in Rome

On September 18, in the historic Rione Ponte, nestled between Piazza Navona and Castel Sant’Angelo, Rome will inaugurate the Ponte Art and Design District — a permanent district dedicated to contemporary art, design, artistic craftsmanship and antiques.

Promoted by the Roma Faber association and supported by the Regione Lazio and the Municipio I di Roma Capitale, and under the patronage of the Department of Culture of Roma Capitale, the district brings together 28 leading Roman excellences in design and art, the main design and architecture universities in the area, companies in the design industry and key players in high-end hospitality.

The aim of creating the district is not only to enhance the creative excellences of the neighborhood, but above all to establish an active network through a program of academic and interactive events, designed to showcase the area's unique know-how and highlight key sectors for the cultural promotion of the territory, such as design and hospitality.

As a partner in the project, Accademia Italiana collaborated on the design of the pedestrianization of Via Dei Banchi Nuovi, the district's main street. Our two second-year Product Design students, Louise Hommet and Sofia Tosto, guided by professor Gabriele Rosa, designed structural elements, banners, information panels, and window stickers with the aim of visually enhancing the district and raising awareness of its history.

Ponte Art and Design District blends the centuries-old artisan memory of the Capital — now embodied by artisans and designers who have worked in the neighborhood for over thirty years — with the most contemporary experimentation, offering a model of urban regeneration built on creativity and participation.

The district becomes an engine for the local economy and a key destination for cultural tourism, enhancing the value of Made in Italy and strengthening Rome’s international image as a capital of design.
