Forty years ago - on December 17th 1982 - the historical center of Florence entered the list of UNESCO’s heritage sites. To celebrate, on the day of the anniversary, Poste Italiane produced three exclusive Florence postcards.
Among the special postcards made for the occasion, one is particularly connected to Accademia Italiana. The photo selected for one of the three postcards was, in fact, shot by Anna Favero, senior year Photography student in Florence.
The exclusive postcards on which the special stamp has been affixed, were distributed on Saturday December 17th in Palazzo Vecchio, during the commemorative event.
“Florence world heritage signs 40 years and renovates its commitment to protect its beauties - affirmed Cecilia Del Re, assessor for City planning and the Unesco Management plan -. We wanted to celebrate this significant anniversary by putting in the center of Poste Italiane’s postcards three images symbol of the new Management plan we recently adopted. Besides Florence landscape [...] we decided to insert [...] a monumental tree to show the resilience and the beauty of Florence, not only symbolized by its artistic heritage, but also by nature, of which we need to take special care in this era of climate change”.
