From the portrait of marylin monroe to the casablanca poster.

Silvano Campeggi, famous worldwide for his film posters, has passed away at the age of 95. In the past few years he was a frequent visitor to the Accademia Italiana, enchanting the students with a lively conference to celebrate his receipt of the Pyramid of Excellence Award in 2015. The students remember him not only for his incredible ability with pen and ink, but also for his indomitable spirit. “Nano”’s fame was mainly linked to the posters he created for various Hollywood film studios to publicize their films during the golden years of cinema (1945-1970). After WWII he was contacted by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to create the poster for the film “Gone with the Wind”, which was followed by more than 3000 works for MGM, but also for Warner Brothers, Paramount, Universal, Columbia Pictures, United Artists, RKO, and Twentieth Century Fox. Among his most famous posters: Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, An American in Paris, West Side Story, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Judgement at Nuremburg, Exodus, Breakfast at Tiffanys. (Lof)
