Claudio Giardino was born in Rome on 11th September 1952. University Degree in Humanities, Rome University "La Sapienza"; Superior degree in Christian Archaeology, Pontificium Institutum Archaeologiae Christianae, Rome; Ph.D. in Archaeology (Prehistory); Specialization degree in Archaeology-Prehistory; postdoctoral studies in Archaeometallurgy, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Rome "La Sapienza".
He has taught at many Italian and foreign universities: University “Suor Orsola Benincasa”, Naples; Bologna University, Siena University; University of Arkansas (Rome Center). Currently he is Associate Professor at the University of Salento (Lecce), Department of Cultural Heritage.
As an archaeologist, he gets involved in various archaeological missions in Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Malta, Cyprus, Oman, Indonesia and Kazakhstan. He collaborates with Italian and foreign laboratories to study the ancient metals. He is member of Italian and European archaeological, scientific associations; he is the author of over 170 scientific publications, including monographs and papers. In the field of archaeological science communication he collaborated with the Italian magazine “Archeo” and took part in radio programs on archeology with the British BBC and with the American Oregon National Public Radio.
