New design trends between creativity and reality

Not in the Sky, not Underground

On April 16th, 2011 at the Saschall theater in Florence, the Accademia Italiana, international institute of fashion and design that in more than 27 years of activities has become a reference point for young creative minds and for design industries, will present its year end final event.

2,000 invited guests from all over the world, representing universities and industries in the field will participate in the inauguration of the design exhibition and fashion show.

"This year we wanted to give a precise direction" said the President of the Accademia Italiana, Vincenzo Giubba, "opting for lines that unite creativity and the real world, because today more than ever dreams must take into account industrial and market realities."

From this choice the title of the event "Not in the sky, not underground", a clear message that pushes the young designers to face reality, without, of course, ever letting go of their imagination and creative genius.

The year-end events will begin at 5.00 pm with the inauguration of the design and photography exhibition, to be followed at 7.00 pm by the fashion show presented by graduating students in the fashion design program.

On a similar theme there will also be the preview of a few of the works designed by the students of the title "A Tribute to Michelucci", dedicated to the great Italian architect.

These design projects will participate, at a later date, in an exhibition organized by the City of Fiesole and by the Michelucci Foundation that in September 2011 will officially celebrate the Master.

A high point of the evening's events will be the customary presentation of the "Pyramid of Excellence" that the students award each year to those designers or industries who have distinguished themselves for innovation and research in design.

During this edition the following design masters will be honored:

Elio Fiorucci, creative icon, Maison Mila Schön, the high-tech design company MomoDesign, the Swarovski industry, internationally renowned set and costume designer Maurizio Millenotti.

A press conference for the event will take place on April 16th at 12 noon at Saschall_Firenze. Members of the media are invited to attend.
